Facility Renovations – Fall 2003

Peptide Laboratory
A 900 square foot laboratory focused on the provision of more space for the Peptide Synthesis operations. Benching and three different types of fume hoods to offer maximum flexibility for all laboratory operations. A standard bench top fume hood with an extended internal height will be available as well as a standard walk-in fume hood and a walk-in fume hood with a 12-foot interior height for larger scale peptide synthesis and contract synthesis projects. In addition, there will be a separate room for the operation of chromatography columns and the large rotovap. Again, as with all of Dalton’s laboratories, temperature, humidity and pressure will be monitored by the BAS.

Microbiology Laboratory
Dalton’s rigorous environmental monitoring program for the GMP area has required the construction of a larger microbiology laboratory (350 square feet) to accommodate more staff and equipment. The biological safety cabinets and incubators are used for on-site bioburden testing, microbial identification and environmental monitoring of the GMP area.

QA Sampling Room
In order to completely segregate the sampling of solvents and other raw materials for GMP, a new QA Sampling Room has been designed. This room will feature a fume extractor arm and some stainless steel benching for work space. Access to this room will be restricted to authorized personnel only.
