Controller

We are currently looking for an experienced Controller to work in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. In this role, you will primarily (but not limited to) be responsible for managing the day-to-day functions of the finance department including, accounting, financial reporting, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and treasury management.

To qualify for this position, the candidate must possess the qualifications:

Duties would include, but not be limited to:

  • Directs the preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, reports to shareholders, tax returns, and reports for government regulatory agencies.
  • Oversees accounting department, budget preparation, and audit functions. Meets regularly with department heads to keep informed and to offer direction.
  • Reviews reports to analyze projections of sales and profit against actual figures, budgeted expenses against final totals, and suggests methods of improving the planning process as appropriate.
  • Develop, lead and manage a strong financial team
  • Manage relationship with external auditors, lenders, and taxation authorities.
  • Provide financial leadership and direction for management
  • Develop process improvement concepts for the financial management of the business
  • Work closely with senior management and staff to ensure timeliness, accuracy, and appropriate level of reporting is provided to allow informed decisions
  • Develop the annual budgets, long range plans, and strategic direction in close association with management
  • Mentoring, training and development of accounting team to encourage participation and an appreciation of the company’s culture and vision

Education & Experience Requirements

  • A certificate from a professional accounting body either from Canada, USA, or UK, with 5 years of post-qualifying experience. Additionally an MBA in accounting or finance will be desirable.
  • 7- 10 years of progressive financial accounting and reporting experience.
  • Very strong technical, analytical, communication, interpersonal skills and short learning curve.

Accounting Clerk (1.5 years Contract Position for Maternity Leave Coverage)

We are seeking a skilled Accounting Clerk. A self-starter with high energy, initiative with strong verbal and written communication skills, experienced in high-volume AP and AR processing is needed in a fast-paced environment.

Duties would include, but not be limited to:

  • Accounts Payable – data entry, including matching invoices with packing slips, manage payment to vendors, statutory payments etc.
  • Accounts Receivable invoice processing, follow up of past due amounts, including recording daily receipts
  • Manage certain inter-company transactions
  • Own certain reports requested by management
  • General Ledger inquiry and analysis of key accounts
  • Assist in monthly detailed variance analysis.
  • Compensation dependent upon skills and experience
  • Experience working in with MS Dynamics GP is desired.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team, but be able to work independently when necessary
  • Possess superior organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Is a problem solver and highly detail oriented
  • Can work in a fast paced, multi-disciplinary environment

Accounting Associate

We are currently looking for an experienced Accounting Associate to work in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

To qualify for this position, the candidate must possess the qualifications:

Duties would include, but not be limited to:

  • Performs monthly close and reporting results to management, including tracking of expenditures and variance reporting.
  • Managing all GL activities, maintenance, account reconciliations, and monthly close processes.
  • Prepares monthly journal entries, reviews monthly results, and investigates significant variances.
  • Assists in evaluating and investigating financial transactions in preparation of financial statements and/or reports.
  • Assists in preparation of timely and accurate reporting of financial statements in compliance with governing accounting rules and regulations, including compliance
  • Coordinates in internal and external audits.
  • Evaluates and investigates financial reporting of certain transactions.
  • Promotes adherence to internal financial policies and procedures with proper internal checks and balances.
  • Consolidates financial data presented in various formats for financial analysis and reporting.

Education And Experience Requirements:

  • Canadian CPA, CGA, or B. Comm (or equivalent) and with other courses leading towards a professional designation being desirable.
  •  5-7 years of progressive financial accounting and reporting experience.
  • Very strong technical, analytical, communication, interpersonal skills and short learning curve.
  • Can work in a fast paced, multi-disciplinary environment
  • Sound understanding of processes and controls supporting the preparation of financial reports.
  • Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Payroll processing, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills
