Project Manager

As a member of the Project Management team, the Project Manager will be working as part of a dynamic department that plans, executes, and finalizes projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating team efforts of members across departments, third-party contractors or consultants (when necessary) to deliver projects according to plan.

The successful candidate must have excellent communication and presentation skills and be extremely self-motivated.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Defining a scope, goals, and deliverables which support business objectives and measures in collaboration with management and stakeholders.
  • Communicating project expectations and collaborating with team members and stakeholders in a timely and effective manner.
  • Collaborating with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis across the departments.
  • Planning, scheduling and tracking project timelines, milestones and deliverables using appropriate tools;
  • Determining frequency and content of status reports from within the team, analyzing results, and troubleshooting problem areas;
  • Defining project success criterion and distributing them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
  • Conducting project postmortems and creating recommendation reports to identify progress of project elements. Managing project development from beginning to end.
Technical and quality tasks:
  • Without necessarily being an expert, the Project Manager should make an effort to understand the technology being used in order to understand and question requests coming from specialists and technical staff and to evaluate what is reasonable or possible.
  • The Project Manager must have an understanding of relevant methodologies, processes and standards and ensures that all project team members understand and follow these also.
  • The Project Manager is responsible for the project’s commitment to quality – also referred to as fitness for purpose or specification level and may need to call on specialists to assist in creating or assessing quality standards.
  • Conference attendance/travel available for PM development.
Organizing tasks:
  • The Project Manager may need to generate many types of documents, including requirement specifications, contracts, schedules, Gantts personnel records, project reports, communication (email) records, design specifications, meeting agendas, minutes and status reports.
  • The Project Manager may need to create a structure for project documentation and remain conscientious in using it and ensuring that the rest of the team understands and uses it.
Qualifications:
  • B.Sc. in Chemistry or related field
  • Good knowledge of the Canadian GMPs and FDA cGMP guidelines.
  • A good understanding of production, design and fabrication methodologies.
  • Excellent ability to manage staff and to work with team members, partners, contractors and consultants.
  • Strong planning, organizational and administrative skills suitable for project management.
  • Strong computer skills, especially with Microsoft Word, Excel; comfortable with internet and email.
  • Coordinating multiple projects (S/M) at the same time. Skills and Experience
  • Proven track record of successful project deliverables; work to schedule and specification.
Requirements:
  • Project Management experience preferred.
  • PMP designation is an asset.
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in a related field.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills and ability to influence and align technical support to client needs.
